Innocent Brothers in prison, another case where a real killer went free

Cecil Cameron Simmons and his brother James Grover Simmons were convicted of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Kristi Hedden. Hedden, 19, disappeared from her disabled car just inside the Florida State Line on Interstate 75. Her body was dumped into the Waccasassa River outside Bronson. The convictions were based on the testimony of a local mentally retarded man named James Leonard Burney who claimed to have participated, but was never arrested or charged. No physical evidence linked the brothers to the crime, and over 25 alibi witnesses attest that the brothers were in Georgia at the time of the crime.

Why are we always so quick to blame the husband?

On a warm Saturday morning in July of 2008, Nancy Cooper was reported missing by concerned friends. Three days later on July 14th 2008, Nancy's naked body was found face down in a creek miles from her home. Nancy's husband told investigators and friends Nancy left their home for a morning jog around 7 am. Despite any physical evidence, several reports by witnesses who claimed to have seen Nancy jogging that morning, reports of a strange van in the neighborhood days prior and the day Nancy went missing and a lover from years prior who told police he knew Nancy's run route and had confronted Nancy for "saying bs lies" about him, Brad Cooper was convicted in Nancy's death. Is Brad Cooper the victim of a faulty police investigation? Was Brad Cooper the assumed suspect from the very start after a 911 call to Cary police on the day Nancy went missing? Did detectives erase important information from Nancy's phone?

Are right and wrong convertible terms, dependent upon popular opinion?

Home - Jay Biggs He is Innocent

Jay and is serving life for a murder he did not commit, a murder that never happened. 5 years ago his infant daughter passed away and police claimed her death was suspicious. However there was no practical proof. Two years later he was arrested and charged. Lawyers told him the prosecution was taking a 50/50 gamble that by using such a heinous story jurors would be blind to fact. Dr. Spitz, the foremost pathologist and author of the "Bible" of pathologists clearly stated at trial "This child died of Sids, namely she asphyxiated on vomit ". Police found no DNA or other physical evidence and said they could not even identify vomit. Mainly because they lacked the techology or professionals of a big city, they felt that their suspicions were good enough. I am incarerated because police had no evidence, they had no evidence because no murder occurred and one poor man cannot take on police and state prosecutors alone. They are right, alone I will not succeed in righting this wrong. Read transcripts at the links provided :

Just how unjust is this system? Reality check

On Law & Order, everything makes sense: the police chase after violent bad guys, the accused get a fair trial, and justice is blind. But is that the reality in the United States? Watch this video to have your mind blown about how unjust our system truly is.
